PETROCHEMICAL ARGES
More than half the workforce dismissed
Petrom is to dismiss more than half the 600 workers at its petrochemical division Petrochemical Arges (formerly Arpechim), shortly before the end to negotiations for Oltchim SA’s (Rîmnicu Vîlcea / Rumänien; www.oltchim.ro) takeover of the division. The group intends to make redundant 360 positions by year’s end, before the transaction with Oltchim is closed. The move is attributed to a production stop at Petrochemical Arges, in the wake of Oltchim’s having scaled down its feedstock demands following several plant closures.
