Industry association Petcore Europe (Brussels; www.petcore-europe.org) has seen a change at the top: Martin Stephan, who became director general in May 2023, has been succeeded by Roberto Bertaggia. Stephan accepted the position of chief business officer at Global Bioenergies (Evry, France; www.global-bioenergies.com) on short notice near the end of October.
Bertaggia’s career as a manager includes stops at Shell, Mossi & Ghisolfi, and most recently GSI Global Service International, before he set up his own business as a consultant on PET issues in 2021. He was also the president of Petcore Europe in 2017. The association, with its nearly 160 members, “plays an important role in achieving the recycling targets that have been set,” he said.

Petcore annual meeting set for 2024
The PET association also has its annual conference scheduled for 7-8 February 2024 in Brussels. The association says the event will explore the core challenges and factors facing the PET value chain over the past years, including market dynamics, improvement of analytical methods, microplastics, newly developed analytical methods, and recent and future regulatory EU issues.
Representatives from the European Commission and the European Parliament are expected to speak, primarily to discuss expectations and goals for the PET value chain in line with the developments of the PPWR. More details about the event are available here.
