PETAINER
Joint venture plant opened in India / Further growth of packaging solutions planned
Petainer Innopac Packaging, a joint venture between UK plastic packaging specialist Petainer (Peterborough; www.petainer.com) and Innopac Containers, has opened a new manufacturing facility near Mumbai / India. The plant uses Petainer’s polymer engineering technology to produce high performance, sustainable PET and plastics packaging solutions, which the company said would enable customers to enter new markets and enhance their brand at reduced cost.
The facility includes blow moulding equipment to make the 20-litre bulk water cooler jar, “petainerCooler”, using preforms from Petainer’s sites in Europe. There is also a design studio, laboratory services and warehousing space. More equipment and products will be brought online in the coming months, Petainer said.
Managing director of Petainer Innopac Packaging, Atit Bhatia, said the plant and its strategic location support its ambitious growth plans for the region. Nigel Pritchard, group CEO of Petainer UK Holdings added that India provides a dynamic market opportunity for its packaging solutions.
