PERSTORP / OTTO
Product Swap: Waste containers to Otto / Transportation containers to Perstorp
More changes in the European market for plastic storage and transportation containers: According to information released last week, Perstorp Plastic Systems (HQ: S-28480 Perstorp) – in Germany: Perstorp Norkun GmbH (D-19057 Schwerin, Sacktannen) – is set to take over from the Otto Group (D-57223 Kreuztal) its European line of storage and transportation containers. In return, Perstorp Plastic Systems is to hand over to Otto its own European line of waste containers. "This is a sound agreement for both parties," said Viking Henricsson, president of Perstorp Plastic Systems. "Now our goal is to become the leading company in the European market for storage and transportation containers with a market share of 15 to 20%. At the same time, the agreement is part of our efforts to bring about a better market structure in Europe, consisting of fewer, larger and thus more profitable manufacturers within our industry." Each of the product lines affected by the agreement reportedly produces an annual turnover of over DEM 47m. Practically speaking, the agreement constitutes an exchange of products, injection moulding tools and brand names. However, Perstorp will continue to produce larger waste containers for the Nordic market on behalf of Otto.
Perstorp Plastic Systems is a branch of the Swedish company Perstorp AB, reaching an annual turnover of approximately DEM 340m with 950 employees. The plastics branch specializes in plastic storage and transportation containers for almost every type of industry. It has production sites in eight European countries as well as the USA and Asia.
