Ron Commander, head of Butyl Rubber (BTR), will assume a new role based in Canada beginning in July before finally retiring at the end of 2013. Guenther Weymanns, currently head of Keltan Elastomers (KEL), will succeed Commander at the Singapore-based BTR unit. According to the board of management, Weymans was responsible for the integration of the company’s EPDM business, including the implementation of its energy-efficient ACE Technology – see Plasteurope.com of 23.04.2013. He begins his new position at KEL in July. Starting in June, he will be replaced by Torsten Derr to oversee the KEL business unit, headquartered in Geleen / The Netherlands.
Michael Schaefer has been named to manage Material Protection Products (MPP) effective 1 May, which had previously been under the watch of Derr, who re-aligned and expanded the unit.
Finally, Par Singh has been appointed as the new country representative to Singapore. Singh will be taking on the role currently served by Ian Wood starting September. In a statement from Axel Heitmann, chairman of the board of management, the role of the country representative will take on additional responsibilities including a project to expand business in the global concern’s ASEAN region.
This expansion comes at a time when Lanxess has invested roughly EUR 600m in two large-scale plants in the country
