Sumitomo Heavy Industries appoints new senior vice president

Tetsuya Okamura has been appointed senior vice president of Sumitomo Heavy Industries (SHI, Tokyo / Japan; www.shi.co.jp) effective 1 April 2012. In addition to his existing position as CEO of injection moulding machinery manufacturer Sumitomo Demag Plastics Machinery (Schwaig / Germany; www.sumitomo-shi-demag.eu), Okamura will now take over responsibility for the plastics machinery business of Japanese parent company SHI.
In the wake of Okamura's appointment, Kazuo Hiraoka will take over as head of the plastics machinery division responsible for the production of SHI plastics machinery in Japan. Hiraoka succeeds Yuji Takaishi, who will become head of corporate planning of SHI.
