On the heels of the recent merger between Momentive Performance Materials (Albany, New York / USA; www.momentive.com) and Hexion Speciality Chemicals (Columbus, Ohio / USA; www.hexionchem.com) – see Plasteurope.com of 20.09.2010 – Momentive CEO Jonathan Rich has accepted an offer to become the new chairman and CEO of Berry Plastics (Evansville, Indiana / USA; www.berryplastics.com).
The stars could not have been more favourable to Rich, as the merger contained a clause stipulating that he resign as CEO and hand the reigns over to a Hexion representative. All the more lucky that incumbent Berry Plastics CEO Ira Boots has decided to resign from this position on 4 October in order to focus his activities on the board of directors.
Once Rich leaves for his new position, Momentive will be headed by Hexion chairman and CEO Craig Morrison.
