German compounder takes over waste manager Proform / Plant opens in Mexico

As part of a company succession plan, German compounder Pentac Polymer (Groß-Umstadt; www.pentac.de) has acquired the waste management company Proform located roughly 20 km away. As a subsidiary of Pentac, the plastics grinding company, which employs eight people and generates annual sales of around EUR 4 mn, will operate under the name Pentac Proform Recycling in future. The compounder did not disclose the purchase price. As part of the integration, the original site will be closed and production is to be relocated to a newly built hall at Pentac’s headquarters. The company emphasises that there will be no job losses.

Pentac Proform Recycling specialises in processing plastics waste from the post-industrial recycling (PIR) sector, though specific quantities were not disclosed. The company primarily manufactures PA 6 and PA 6.6 compounds and various blends across six extrusion lines. With a production capacity of approximately 22,000 t/y and an additional reserve capacity of 15,000 t/y, Pentac serves industries including automotive, electrical engineering, and household appliances. Founded in 1987 and now led by the third generation of the family, the company employs 80 people at its headquarters and reported a turnover of around EUR 56 mn in 2023.
In October 2024, Pentac opened its first international production site in Querétaro, Mexico, about 250 km northwest of Mexico City. The facility is set up to produce 5,000 t/y of compounds to be sold to customers in Mexico and the US. According to the compounder, it has invested a total of EUR 1.5 mn in its new site. Pentac Polymer de Mexico currently employs 10 people.
