Acquisition of Avenir Print Service / Position in cosmetics and pharmaceuticals strengthened
The French aluminium and packaging corporation Pechiney Group (F-75218 Paris; www.pechiney.com) has announced the acquisition of the French packaging company Avenir Print Service (APS, F-49260 Montreuil Bellay) by its subsidiary Pechiney Soplaril Flexible Europe. APS has an annual turnover of EUR 15m and 80 employees. The company specialises in the production of plastics film for health and beauty packaging.
While flexible packaging is often associated with food, there is a growing demand for high-quality applications in the cosmetics and pharmaceutical sectors, says Jean-Pierre Pignet, managing director of Pechiney Soplaril Flexible Europe. With annual sales of EUR 400m, the subsidiary employs 2,000 people on 13 manufacturing sites situated in France, Spain, Italy, Germany, the Czech Republic and Portugal. In 2001, Pechiney GroupĀ“s packaging sector posted sales of EUR 2.4 bn.
