PAUL CRAEMER
Construction under way on first foreign plant / Injection moulding line for large waste bins
Paul Craemer (Herzebrock / Germany; www.craemer.com), a manufacturer of injection moulded pallets, transport containers and waste bins, is building its first production facility outside Germany. A new unit at Telford / UK is due to go on stream in autumn 2006. Up to now, Craemer has manufactured exclusively in Herzebrock. The company has declined to disclose the investment sum (although the British daily, "Shropshire Star" puts it at "several million pounds"), the planned number of employees or the machines being installed. Details will be announced upon start-up, a Craemer spokesperson told PIE.

When UK production commences – initially for large wheeled waste bins – the sales office for pallets and transport boxes at Chadderton near Manchester will move to Telford. As part of the planned merging of all British activities, the former Craemer Environmental Systems (Telford), which distributes waste containment products and claims to be UK market leader, was renamed Craemer UK at the beginning of 2005.
The family-run company processes primarily HDPE into storage and transport containers and pallets. With its "Kliko" brand, acquired in 1997, Craemer regards itself as one of the leading suppliers of waste containment systems in Europe. Employing 500 people at three sites in Germany, the UK and Slovakia, it is also active in metal forming and tool making. Sales in 2005 amounted to EUR 120m (EUR 113m in 2004). The export ratio is put at 40%.
