Due to the increasing demand for compounds with recycled content, pal plast (Mühlheim, Germany; www.palplast.com/en) has confirmed its plans to expand production. By the end of 2024, capacity is supposed to be more than doubled from the current 20,000 t/y to 50,000 t/y, as managing director Josef Wirnik said in an interview with Plasteurope.com at the K trade fair in Düsseldorf. Originally, this volume had already been announced for the end of 2022 (see Plasteurope.com of 25.10.2021).
According to Wirnik, the Asian market in particular has a ravenous appetite for high-quality recyclates. The aim is to meet this demand through expansion. The number of employees is also expected to grow as part of the expansion: in the area of purchasing and procurement, pal plast urgently needs more staff, Wirnik said.
