The Ostan Group (S. Stino di Livenza / Italy; www.ostangroup.com) is investing PLN 23m (around EUR 6.5m) in a new injection moulding facility at Sosnowiec, in Poland’s Katowice special development zone. The new facility, which will supply the domestic appliance and automotive sectors, will have eight injection moulding machines with a clamping force of 35-1,100 kN and is scheduled to start operating with 80 employees at the end of 2008.

Alongside its main site (110 employees, 33 injection moulding machines), this Italian group, which belongs to Osmap, has development and tooling facilities in Italy and injection moulding and tooling plants in Singapore and Shenzhen / China, all of which operate under the Osmap brand. By contrast, its injection moulding facilities in Romania, Slovenia, Spain and now Poland operate as Gimplast.

The group has a total workforce of 400, including 310 employees in injection moulding, along with more than 75 injection moulding machines. According to the company, nearly 60% of production is supplied to the domestic appliance industry, 20% is used in garden applications, 10% goes to the automotive sector and 5% to television manufacturers.
