Carbon black producer Orion Engineered Carbons (Senningerberg / Luxembourg; www.orioncarbons.com) is building a new speciality carbon black line at its site in Ravenna / Italy. The company said the line will supply the growing coatings, polymers, printing and speciality applications markets. “In addition to the ongoing conversion of existing rubber capacity to speciality, we are adding a new line to take advantage of the strong demand for speciality carbon blacks,” said Jack Clem, Orion’s CEO. “This investment continues Orion’s rapid realignment of our portfolio toward higher value-added products.”

The new line is expected to begin production in the fourth quarter of 2019. The company however did not reveal the production capacity of its new line.
