Latin America's largest BOPP producer buys new BOPET line purchased from Brückner Machinenbau / Start-up expected in early 2013
Opp Film (Lima / Peru), part of films manufacturer Oben Holding Group (www.obengroup.com), expects to start producing BOPET films in early 2013 after purchasing a new line from Brückner(Siegsdorf / Germany; www.brueckner.com/maschinenbau). The new high-speed, 8.7 metre-wide line has a nameplate capacity of 35,000 t/y. Alfredo Barreda, Opp Film’s vice president, said the BOPET films will be available with special treatments, metalised and favorable heat-sealing characteristics.
OPP Film, which already manufactures BOPP and CPP films, recently started up two new, 35,000 t/y each BOPP lines supplied by Brückner. A new 20,000 t/y Brückner CPP line, with a 6.2 metre width, is also scheduled to begin operations in July 2012.
Oben Holding has manufacturing plants for films in Peru, Ecuador (BOPP), Argentina (35,000t/y of BOPP) and Colombia (thermoformed films) and has the capacity to produce more than 200,000 t/y of PP films, about 180,000 t/y of which consist of BOPP.
