Polymer producer and distributor Nuplex (Auckland / New Zealand; www.nupley.co.nz) has entered into an agreement to buy Acquos’ (Melbourne / Australia; www.acquos.com) Masterbatch business. Financial details of the deal, which still has to meet regulatory approval, have not been disclosed. If approved, Nuplex expects the transaction to make a positive contribution to its 2012 financial year.

The Auckland-based company not only manufactures solvent-based, water-based and solvent polymer resins. The group has offices in the US, Brazil, the UK, The Netherlands, China, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and Australia and sells its products in more than 80 countries. In addition, Nuplex also distributes raw materials in both Australia and New Zealand. Its Polychem (www.polychem.co.nz) business unit purports to be the “exclusive Australasian agent for many of the world’s leading raw material suppliers”.
