Delay, reduction of short-time work at Italian site

Contrary to a previous announcement, Italian biopolymer specialist Novamont (Novara; www.novamont.com) now says it plans to start short-time work at its domestic site in Terni on 25 July 2022, instead of 1 July (see Plasteurope.com of 16.06.2022).
The originally announced duration of a maximum of 13 weeks will also initially be cut to four. After that, normal production is to resume. The company emphasised that the reduction of labour will not affect deliveries to customers.

Novamont cited exorbitant costs at the location and unfair Asian competition from plastic products based on fossil raw materials as justification for the short-time work.
