High-performance plastics and masterbatches launched for “K 2016”
German distributor Nordmann, Rassmann (NRC, Hamburg; www.nordmann-rassmann.com) has introduced a selection of new products in time for trade fair “K 2016”, which takes place in Düsseldorf / Germany on 19-26 October. In partnership with Italian fluoropolymers producer Heroflon (Collebeato, Brescia; www.heroflon.com), NRC has launched a line of high-performance polymers that are said to be particularly suitable for specific and high-tech heavy duty applications.
The “Heromelt” range includes fluorothermoplastics such as FEP, PFA and ETFE, PEEK special blends and colour fluoro-masterbatches. The range is compatible with a large variety of organic fillers, allowing customers to formulate to their specific applications in terms of cost, properties and sustainability. The compounds are used in various industries including automotive and aerospace, as well as in mechanical systems and chemical production plants.
In addition, NRC has developed “Nord-Min” PPS, a proprietary and specialised plastic that is characterised by its excellent resistance to a wide variety of media, very high heat and fire. The company said Nord-Min PPS is suited to applications where other high-temperature resistant thermoplastics, such as PA 6T-based PPAs, fall short. A flame-retardant masterbatch – “Nord-Min” FRMB – is also now available, supplementing its range of polyolefin-based and technical polymer additives. A halogen-free grade is offered, as well as versions containing halogen and antimony. Nord-Min masterbatches are used in electronic and electrical products, and in the transport and construction industries.
Apart from its main plant in Brescia, Italian fluoropolymer specialist Heroflon also operates a subsidiary in the US – Heroflon USA (Hillsborough, New Jersey) – as well as a plant in Brazil – HF Do Brasil (São Caetano do Sul, São Paulo). The company's more than 1,600 different blends are sold across 30 countries. Its annual fluoropolymer output comes to about 4,500 t/y.
