NORDMANN RASSMANN
Distribution agreement with Swedish Deflamo / Strengthening European market presence
German distributor Nordmann, Rassmann (NRC, Hamburg; www.nrc.de) has signed a cooperation agreement with specialty chemical company, Deflamo (Jarfalla / Sweden; www.Deflamo.se), to market and sell its patented, eco-friendly flame retardant, Apyrum, in Germany, Central Europe and the Nordic countries.
In the early phase, NRC will work with Deflamo and customers to evaluate the biodegradable flame retardant and its functionality. Deflamo said technical product solving and product development formed a central part of the cooperation. It added that NRC will eventually have a large portfolio of standard products that could be distributed from its own warehouse.
Both companies were anticipating the collaboration would strengthen their position in the market. Deflamo said the global flame retardant market is worth SEK 32 bn (EUR 3.7 bn) with Europe accounting for 30%. Apyrum can be adapted for use with many materials such as polymers, plastics, synthetics as well as natural and fibrous materials, according to Deflamo.
