Plastics recycler invests in capacity expansion

Latvian recycling company Nordic Plast (Olaine; www.nordicplast.lv/en) has announced plans to invest EUR 1.7 mn in the expansion of its recycling capacities. The company, however, did not specify which of the existing plants is to be expanded, nor did it provide information on the amount of the planned capacity increase.

Last year, Nordic Plast, which belongs to environmental and waste management group Eco Baltia (Riga; www.ecobaltiavide.lv/en), commissioned a new sorting plant for post-consumer packaging waste for EUR 2.8 mn and increased its capacity for polyethylene and polypropylene recyclates by almost a third to 12,000 t/y.
