Nordenia Hungary (H-2111 Szada), in business since 1994, was the first Nordenia group (HQ: D-48268 Greven; www.nordenia.com) company to be established in central and eastern Europe. Since then, it claims to have become the region´s leading producer of flexible packaging. The Hungarian company with 285 employees caters for the domestic market as well as for customers in Poland, Russia and Slovakia. Some packaging products such as big bags are also produced for the western European market. At a press conference to mark the anniversary, Ralph Landwehr, vice chairman of the executive board of Nordenia International AG, said the Szada firm is the only Hungarian supplier offering a full range of products, from unprinted PE film to packaging film with flexographic printing.
In Hungary, Nordenia runs one mono-extrusion and three co-extrusion facilities, four flexo printing lines, two laminators, five bag-making machines and four slitting machines, turning out more than 13,000 t/y of product. Top customers include Henkel, Unilever and Nestle as well as domestic buyers such as ERU Hungária, Pick Szeged and Delhús. In addition to the Hungarian facility, the global manufacturer of flexible packaging, technical film and product components has production sites in Russia (Nordenia Slavnika, Pereslavl) and in Poland (Nordenia Polska, Poznan). The eastern European facilities with altogether 800 employees sell a total of 23,000 t of packaging films as well as several hundred thousand big bags in this region annually.
