Purchase of Swiss medical and precision components producer Treff / Swedish injection moulder expands in German-speaking Europe
Swedish injection moulder Nolato (Torekov; www.nolato.com) has signed an agreement to acquire medical diagnostics and advanced precision components manufacturer Treff (Degersheim / Switzerland; www.treff-ag.ch). Financial details of the deal, which is expected to close in the first week of October, were not disclosed. Nolato CEO Christer Wahlquist said the purchase, part of the company’s growth strategy, will give it a presence in German-speaking Europe, and open doors to a group of new customers from the medical technology field in particular.

Specialised in the production of medical and self-care diagnostics and precision parts for industrial applications, Treff’s 190 employees are expected to post sales of about SEK 450m (EUR 48m) in 2016, with an EBITDA margin of about 11.5%. The family-run company was first founded in 1946. Following the purchase, Treff’s management is expected to remain on board.

About two-thirds of Treff’s operations will become part of Nolato Industrial, while the remaining third will be assigned to Nolato Medical. The Swedish group reported a 21% year-on-year increase in operating profit (EBITA) in 2015, to a total of EUR 60.5m (see Plasteurope.com of 11.02.2016).
