Licensing LyondellBasell technology for new PP plant
Russian polymer producer Nizhnekamskneftekhim (Nizhnekamsk / Tatarstan; www.nknh.ru) has acquired a license for LyondellBasell’s (Rotterdam / The Netherlands; www.lyondellbasell.com) “Spheripol” process technology for a new PP line it plans to build at group headquarters. The 400,000 t/y facility is due for start-up after 2015, the Dutch company said in a press release.
The Russian group also operates a 230,000 t/y PE plant using the "Spheripol" gas phase technology at group headquarters – see Plasteurope.com of 06.03.2009.
According to Plasteurope.com's Polyglobe capacity database (www.polyglobe.net), Nizhnekamskneftekhim currently is building a new mega-cracker at group HQ, scheduled to be commissioned in 2015. The Russian company in December last year acquired licenses for two downstream PE units – see Plasteurope.com of 07.12.2012.
