US plastics distributor Nexeo Solutions (The Woodlands, Texas; www.nexeosolutions.com) is to distribute Dutch Parx Plastics (Rotterdam; www.parxplastics.com) "Sanipolymers" antibacterial polymers in Europe, following the signing of an agreement between the two. The deal broadens Nexeo Solutions existing portfolio and allows Parx Plastics to increase its market reach and visibility across Europe.

The “Sanipolymers” range contains a biocompatible solution which, according to the Rotterdam-based company, makes both the material and surface of a produced object more resistant to microbial and bacterial attacks. The company added the technology used is safe for humans and nature and has been found suitable for plastics which come into contact with food as well as medical applications, the companies said. Using only allowed substances, “Sanipolymers” is claimed to slow down the development and proliferation of bacteria, while simultaneously reducing their number.
