Nexam Chemical (Lomma, Sweden; www.nexamchemical.com) has announced plans to spend SEK 20 mn (EUR 1.87 mn) to create another production line and add an innovation centre at its headquarters complex.

No details were provided for the current or expected output following the addition of further manufacturing capacity, and the company noted that it would start installing production equipment in the days ahead.

CEO Johan Arvidsson said that thanks to the new capacity, the company would ramp up production volumes and expand the product range. The investments are designed to improve business profitability and strengthen competitiveness.

The first part of the innovation centre in Lomma was also expected to be inaugurated in the coming days. The reason for its creation is to invent and improve the processability and properties of plastic materials and to speed up the commercialisation process of new products, according to the supplier. Making aircraft components lighter and developing solutions to improve plastic recycling efficiency are some examples of areas of focus.

Last year, the company revealed its Reactive Recycling solution, which works with mechanical recycling to restore and improve the quality of recycled polymers, even those from low-quality sources (see Plasteurope.com of 29.03.2021).
