Nexam Chemical (Lomma / Sweden; www.nexamchemical.com) has signed an agreement to supply its “Nexamite” additive to structural core materials manufacturer Diab (Laholm / Sweden; www.diabgroup.com). Total annual sales will amount to between SEK 100m-120m (EUR 9m-11m), said Nexam.
The deal will support Diab’s production of PET foam products in Europe, North America and Asia. The products are used in windmill blades. Nexam said the wind power market is growing strongly, and PET use in the blades is expected to increase sharply in the coming years. In 2019, Diab signed a five-year supply contract with Danish wind energy specialist Vestas (Aarhus; www.vestas.com) – see Plasteurope.com of 24.09.2019.
Johan Arvidsson, Nexam’s CEO, said the volumes generated by the collaboration are “very important for our development in the performance chemicals area.” The Swedish additives producer has worked with Diab for several years, starting in 2015 when they began developing a high-performance PET foam containing “Nexamite” technology.
