NESTLE WATERS
UK subsidiary building new bottling plant in Buxton / Ultra-light bottles will use 25% less PET
Nestlé Waters (Paris / France; www.nestle-waters.com) plans to invest more than GBP 35m (EUR 40.5m) into a new state-of-the-art bottling plant in Buxton / UK. This is the first time the UK subsidiary of food group Nestlé (Vevey / Switzerland; www.nestle.com) will combine a bottling facility with warehouse capability.
The line, which is scheduled to start operations in the spring of 2012, will not only reduce the site’s overall energy and water consumption, it will also reportedly produce the lightest weight water bottles made in the UK, using 25% less PET than the current design. The new bottles will be used for the group’s “Buxton Natural Mineral Water” and “Nestlé Pure Life” still water bottle range. According to Paolo Sangiorgi, managing director of Nestlé Waters UK, the new Buxton site will also work closely with local communities to encourage on-the-go recycling and aims to be certified as zero waste to landfill by the end of next year.
