US biopolymer producer NatureWorks (Minnetonka, Minnesota / USA; www.natureworksllc.com) has announced that it is providing its customers with open access to its company’s proprietary “Ingeo 3801X” and “Ingeo HHIM 670-82-01” recipes, including formulation and compounding procedure.
The company said it hopes the move will spur innovation in the field of biopolymers and drive their increased use in injection moulding applications. NatureWorks president and CEO Mark Verbruggen said Ingeo biopolymers had seen strong growth rates in the last 18 months, adding that production capacity had doubled to 140,000 t of resin and fibre.
“Ingeo 3801X” is 80% biobased and can be used as a low-carbon-footprint injection moulding alternative to oil-based plastics – for more details see Plasteurope.com of 22.01.2010.
