HDPE bottle plant opened in Botswana
South African packaging producer Nampak (Sandton / South Africa; www.nampak.co.za) has inaugurated its first manufacturing plant in Botswana. Part of the company's rigid plastics business, the Nampak Liquid facility, built at a cost of ZAR 7m (EUR 700,000), will produce HDPE bottles mainly for the dairy and fruit juice industries.
Other sectors to be serviced by the new plant are producers of industrial chemicals and household cleaners. Beyond the domestic market, the three-line plant may in future supply export markets including Namibia, Zimbabwe and some regions of South Africa.
