Turkey's Bayegan to distribute bio-succinic acid in Middle East, eastern Europe and Africa / Mulling Turkish joint venture
US biochemicals producer Myriant Corp (Quincy, Massachusetts; www.myriant.com) has signed a collaboration agreement with Turkey’s Bayegan Group (Istanbul; www.bayegan.net) to commercialise its bio-succinic acid in the Middle East, eastern Europe and Africa. Under the terms of the deal, Bayegan has agreed to purchasing a pre-determined amount of Myriant’s bio-succinic acid each year to supply customers in the designated regions. The companies did not specify the exact volume. The agreement also extends to the two parties entering into negotiations to potentially establish a bio-succinic acid joint venture in Turkey.
Bayegan CEO Ercument Bayegan welcomed the deal, saying it would help the Turkish group meet rising demand for high-performance renewable chemicals. For Myriant, the deal constitutes “an important, strategic step towards amplifying our global sales and market presence,” said the US company’s COO Cenan Ozmeral.
