Mondi (Johannesburg / South Africa; www.mondigroup.com) has developed resealable packaging for food conglomerate Orkla’s (Oslo / Norway; www.orkla.com) "Vossafår" sliced salami. The Norwegian company had ruled out using standard resealable films because consumers would not easily be able to align the top film with the bottom web for resealing.
Mondi’s new technology for resealable labels for vertical form/fill/seal (VFFS) packs allows users to peel the package from the bottom, take the portion they want, then reseal the pack by pressing down on label. Mondi produces both the top web using a specially developed multi layer laminating film and the flexible bottom web.
