Packaging group Mondi (Vienna / Austria; www.mondigroup.com) has launched a range of water-soluble films for the packing and dosing of powders, tabs and granulates. The film completely dissolves in water, making it ideal for single doses of dry materials such as dishwasher and laundry tabs or bath salts.
Mondi said the films offer excellent sealing and deep drawing properties and provide an effective barrier to oxygen. They are also biodegradable, non-toxic and non-inhibitory.
“Our committed application engineers are able to customise the film according to customers’ specific needs, in addition to providing all of the necessary on-site support required to successfully launch a product using this material,” said Oliver Sperber, chief innovation officer at Mondi Consumer Packaging.
As well as the home and personal care market, a variety of applications for the water-soluble films are emerging in other industry sectors. Mondi said agrochemical packaging for fertiliser, sowing and disinfectants is a major area of interest as well as the building and construction sector where the films can be used as liners for bags in the cement industry.
