The UK’s leading manufacturer of wheeled bins, MGB Plastics (Rotherham; www.mgbplastics.com), has been appointed by international services provider Serco (Hook, Hampshire / UK; www.serco.com) to supply hundreds of thousands of waste management products during the second half of 2011. Following a successful tender, MGB is to provide a range of its products, including wheelie bins and kitchen caddies (handy, compact containers that have been designed to keep in the kitchen for all types of food waste), to Serco over the next three years, primarily meeting the needs of local authorities.

Next month it will supply 20,000 bins, with capacity for 180 litres each, to be distributed to homeowners in Sandwell in the UK’s West Midlands. This will be followed by 80,000 180 litre bins and 70,000 240 litre bins which will be rolled out from October to December 2011.

MGB said it had recently strengthened its position in the UK’s wheeled bins market by investing a six figure (GBP) sum in machinery. This followed the delivery of a second 240 litre wheelie bin tool earlier in 2011.

Conor Sugrue, general manager at MGB Plastics, said: “The award of this tender demonstrates our long-term growth plans for MGB Plastics and part of our vision where form partnership with firms who are committed to waste management and tackling the UK's recycling targets.” MGB Plastics operates from a modern 5,000 ft² facility in Rotherham, in northern England, manufacturing 1.5m bins annually. It also provides kitchen caddies, inner caddies and kerbside boxes.
