German exports of plastics machinery to Mexico reach EUR 155m / Trade more than doubles in four years / VDMA to represent 15 companies at “Plastimagen” in November
Germany’s exports of plastics and rubber machinery to Mexico have more than doubled over the past four years, reaching EUR 155m in 2013, compared with EUR 72m in 2009. In 2013 exports to the country were up 11.5% year-on-year. However, in the first half of 2014, exports were down 11.9% compared with the first six months of 2013, at EUR 58.8m.
In 2013, Germany was the second largest exporter of plastics and rubber machinery to Mexico, accounting for 25.4% of the country’s imports, close behind the US at 26.4% with exports of EUR 161m in the year. At EUR 59.7m, or 9.8%, Japan was the third largest exporter, followed by Italy, France and China. In total, Mexico imported EUR 611m of plastics and rubber machinery in 2013, 4.9% less than in the previous year.
