Turkish automotive supplier doubles number of employees at site in Hungary

Metyx (Istanbul / Turkey; www.metyx.com), a manufacturer of glass and carbon fibre raw materials as well as composite products, has announced a EUR 10m project at its location in Kaposvár / Hungary. The investment will result in a doubling of the workforce on site and enlargement of the manufacturing area by 6,000 m². Managing partner of Metyx Hungary, Ugur Üstünel, says three new production lines are to be installed in 2018.
Metyx Hungary has been present in Kaposvár since 2013, specialising primarily in the production of materials for wind turbines and the automotive industry, including amplifiers and vacuum packing units. According to the company, it is a tier 1 supplier to Siemens for its wind turbines.
Metyx is a division of Telateks (Istanbul; www.en.telateks.com) and has two factories in Turkey and one plant in Hungary. Telateks was established in 1940, with its main activity being the manufacture of textile products. In 2017, the company generated revenue of EUR 51m with a workforce of 450 employees.
According to Metyx, economic relations between Hungary and Turkey have been growing. In the first 11 months of 2017, Hungarian exports to Turkey went up by 10.8%, while imports rose 20.8%.
