Composites: Cooperation with US company Cambridge / Joint system development
Menzolit-Fibron GmbH (PO Box 1520, D-75005 Bretten) and Cambridge Industries Inc. (Madison Heights, Michigan / USA) have arranged to cooperate closely on composites. The aim of the cooperation is to exchange Know-how and provide mutual support in the development of components and systems. In addition, contracts are apparently being prepared to incorporate the field of thermoplastics in order to round off the whole plastics range.
Menzolit-Fibron, which is the holding company of Dynamit Nobel Kunststoff GmbH (PO Box 460, D-91780 Weißenburg), has seven sites in Germany, France, the Slovakian Republic and Turkey and a turnover of DEM 310m, making it one of the leading suppliers of composite technology in Europe. Cambridge, with 13 production sites in the USA and a turnover of USD 400m, is the largest American manufacturer of SMC parts for the automobile industry and a leading manufacturer of thermoplastic mouldings. This alliance sees Menzolit-Fibron continue its cooperation, begun in 1995, with the former GenCorp Inc. (see Plasteurope.com 18, 1995), which was taken over by Cambridge in 1996.
