Extra capacity now available / Demand from new and existing customers spurs management to add new production line
Danish medical polymers specialist Melitek (Nørre Alslev; www.melitek.com) has announced that its expansion project at group headquarters has come to an end with its new production line ready for commissioning.
Over the last 12 months the company has expanded its plant facilities, adding new buildings for production as well as an extra warehouse. The company said it is now more flexible and can ensure supply levels, which is essential to customers in the medical industry. It added that production is expected to double within the next five years. The company undertook the project following increased customer sales and said the growth is both on meliflex elastomer for PVC-replacement and on modified polymer plus systems.
"The new line is in essence a true duplicate of our current line with the same brands and sizing, making it redundant to our current large medical line. It will, however, have many new features making production even more efficient and safe," noted Kim Laursen, managing director at Melitek, during the ribbon-cutting ceremonies in mid-September.
