Serbian plant is commissioned / Renewed rise in sales in 2011

Automotive supplier Mecaplast (Monaco; www.mecaplastgroup.com) officially commissioned its new plant in Zrenjanin / Serbia on 3 April – see also Plasteurope.com of 15.11.2011. The facility was inaugurated by group CEO Christine Bénard in the presence of Serbian president Boris Tadic.
Mecaplast invested some EUR 10m in the site, which is expected to employ about 120 workers by 2013. The automotive supplier said it expects to generate EUR 24m in annual sales for Fiat orders, adding that it is striving to secure additional orders from OEMs in the region.
The Monaco-based group posted sales of EUR 692m in 2011 (2010: EUR 643m), of which it generated about 43% in France and Monaco. The rest was divided among various foreign markets. Body parts accounted for two-thirds of sales, with the remaining third generated by plastic parts for the engine compartment.
