MAUSER
New plant for JBCs and plastic drums in Poland / Output to go towards eastern European markets
Strengthening its presence in eastern Europe, German industrial packaging specialist Mauser Group (Brühl; www.mausergroup.com) opened a plant in Gliwice / Poland, its first in the country. Investment details for the facility, which will allow Mauser to better cater to the region, were not disclosed. Thanks to the plant’s location, Mauser not only will be able to better serve its Polish customers but meet demand from nearby markets, including the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Belarus and the Baltic states.

At the plant, the German group will produce UN and non-UN intermediate bulk containers (IBCs) – including its “SM6”, “SM13” and “SM15” solutions for hazardous and sensitive filling goods – as well as its UN-approved 120- and 150-litre open drums and 220-litre L-Ring drums. The site will also offer customers the reconditioning services of Mauser subsidiary National Container Group (NCG).
Juergen Scherer, SBU manager Europe at Mauser, called the new plant “a major strategic step”, adding that until now, the group had supplied regional customers with product from its plants in Germany.
