On 14 September 2017, Marzek Etiketten+Packaging (Traiskirchen / Austria; www.marzek.at) opened a new plant for flexible packaging in Békéscsaba / Hungary. The new production facility took less than 12 months to build (see Plasteurope.com of 06.07.2016), and has an area of 8,500 m², situated on a site of 25,000 m².
The plant for the production of bags, sleeves and wraparound labels will now operate under the name M-FlexiLog and is located in the immediate vicinity of sister company Marzek Kner Packaging. It has a fully automatic colour mixing system as well as a 14 m-tall high-bay warehouse with around 8,000 pallet bays, and is designed for a workforce of 120. Marzek has invested more than EUR 11m in the project, whereby the group received investment incentives of more than EUR 3m from the Hungarian government.
The Austrian company acquired the Marzek Kner Packaging site in 2005 by taking over the firm that was then operating under the name Kner. More than 350 people are employed at the two plants in Békéscsaba. With its other production sites in Austria and Ukraine, Marzek's total workforce is around 650. In 2016, the family-owned company, which is headed by Helga Marzek, Johannes Michael Wareka and Alexander Schneller-Scharau, posted sales of EUR 56m.
