Pietro Cassani, the former CEO of machinery maker Sacmi (Imola / Italy; www.sacmi.com), has assumed the operative management of packaging machinery manufacturer Marchesini (Pianoro / Italy; www.marchesini.com). He will take over at the helm from current CEO Maurizio Marchesini, who will remain company chairman. The Marchesini family will also retain several other key positions, including that of managing director and head of production – both overseen by Marco Marchesini. The Italian packaging machinery producer recently commissioned a new plant in Carpi, near Modena (see Plasteurope.com of 10.11.2016).

Despite its good sales performance, Sacmi in mid-November decided to let go of Cassani. The decision to part ways was most likely the result of a difference in opinion regarding future strategy (see Plasteurope.com of 14.11.2016).
