MANULI STRETCH
Italian film producer plans to sell sole US facility / US-based customers to be supplied via imports
As the new year got underway, Italy’s Manuli Stretch Group (Milan; www.manulistretch.com) announced plans to divest itself of its sole US production plant, located in Shelbyville, Tennessee. The group has tasked investment bank 321 Capital Partners (Baltimore, Maryland / USA) with exploring this option and finding suitable acquisition candidates. Manuli Stretch added that it would in future support its US-based customers through imports.
Once the US plant, with reported capacity for 20,000 t/y, is divested, Manuli Stretch’s global production plants will number six in total: two in Italy, as well as one each in Germany, the UK, Argentina and Brazil. The Italian group had acquired the US plant in 2007 as part of its takeover of Quintec Films – see Plasteurope.com of 10.12.2007.
