Automotive supplier Magna (Aurora, Ontario / Canada; www.magna.com) is building a facility for automotive seat structures in Lancaster, Ohio / USA. Initial investment in the 14,000 m² plant amounts to USD 60m (EUR 54m), the company reports. Production is scheduled to start in the first quarter of 2020, with around 300 people employed at the location by 2021. The site offers plenty of scope for further growth.
The decision to invest in the facility was taken after Magna succeeded in securing an order from a global automotive manufacturer. Lancaster will be the Canadian company’s fifth production plant in the state and the first location for automotive seat structures. Magna currently has around 2,700 employees in Ohio.
