Magna (Aurora, Ontario / Canada; www.magnaint.com) will be supplying the rear lids for the 21,000 BMW “i3” models expected to be assembled this year. The lids, which consist of a PP-LGF structure and similar paneling, are produced at the group’s plant in Liberec / Czech Republic.
Magna said it installed the relevant machinery for automated manufacture as well as its modern bonding technology in Liberec at the end of last year already. However, the company refused to comment on Plasteurope.com’s query regarding total investment costs. Once assembled, the rear lids are transported from Liberec to BMW’s plant in Leipzig / Germany.
