Canadian automotive parts supplier Magna International (Aurora, Ontario; www.magnaint.com) has recently opened a new engineering centre in Shenyang, the largest city in Northeast China and located around 700 km northeast of Beijing. The 1,050 m2 facility can accommodate more than 100 engineers.
At the centre's opening ceremony, Karl-Friedrich Stracke, president at Magna Steyr, stated the new facility is part of a company strategy to position Magna Steyr in North China. The company has been in China since 2004 with almost 500 employees. In addition to the Shenyang centre, the automotive component producer also has development centres in Shanghai, Wuhan and Changchun, which is also the site of a plant for fuel tank production.
