US resin maker LyondellBasell (LYB, Houston, Texas; www.lyondellbasell.com), chemical recycler Plastic Energy (London; www.plasticenergy.com), and French cosmetics tube packaging manufacturer Albéa Tubes (Sainte-Menehould; www.albea-group.com), have recently launched sustainable cosmetic tubes and caps for L’Occitane en Provence (Manosque, France; www.loccitane.com).
The packaging, made by Albéa Tubes, is based on LyondellBasell’s CirculenRevive range of polymers, which use recycled oils developed by Plastic Energy that convert end-of-life plastics waste streams into virgin-quality feedstock (see Plasteurope.com of 17.01.2022).

Plastic Energy said a lifecycle analysis conducted by independent sustainability consultants concluded that plastics made from its Tacoil have a lower climate-change impact than virgin plastics. L’Occitane said the new tubes strictly follow the ISCC Plus guidelines, with a mass balance approach.
