US polyolefin giant LyondellBasell (Houston, Texas; www.lyondellbasell.com) and De Monchy International (Capelle aan den IJssel / The Netherlands; www.monchy.com) have signed an agreement for the Dutch company to sell the American firm’s “Koattro” metallocene-based polybutene-1 (mPB-1) products in Northwestern and Central Europe.
Both companies are said to believe that the hot melt adhesives (HMA) market has a big growth potential. “There is a clear trend within this industry towards using metallocene products as polymer backbone of HMA formulations.” The US company’s mPB-1 products offer superior properties, such as very low volatile organic compounds, the companies said in a statement.
De Monchy was founded in 1851 as an international trading company. It specialises in products for coatings, adhesives, thermoplastics and waxes.
