Takeover of Zylog Plastalloys' PP compounding activities complete / Now India's third largest PP compounds producer
LyondellBasell (Rotterdam / The Netherlands; www.lyondellbasell.com) has completed its acquisition of the PP compounding activities of Zylog Plastalloys (Nashik, Maharashtra / India; www.zylogplastalloys.com) – for previous coverage, see Plasteurope.com of 01.12.2015. Financial details were not disclosed.
The Dutch chemicals major significantly stepped up its presence on the subcontinent last year, including through its October acquisition of PP compounds producer SJS Plastiblends (Aurangabad, Maharashtra / India; www.sjsplastiblends.com) – see Plasteurope.com of 06.10.2015. With Zylog now also under its belt, LyondellBasell has become the third largest PP compounds producer in India, with total capacity of 44,000 t/y.
Its three production plants – located in Aurangabad and Sinnar, both in Maharashtra state, as well as Chennai in Tamil Nadu – are owned and operated by group subsidiary Basell Polyolefins India (Mumbai). In addition to the existing product lines, LyondellBasell will also be producing its proprietary “Hostacom” glass fibre-reinforced, mineral-filled and unfilled coloured grades as well as its “Hifax” high-impact thermoplastic olefins at the facilities. Output is mostly geared towards automotive applications.
