UK compounder and recycled plastics specialist Luxus (Louth; www.luxus.co.uk) has appointed Alistair Barber as its new business development manager. Barber joined the company in January 2019 from LED lighting manufacturer Lumineux (Louth; www.lumineux.co.uk), where he had been a key account manager. He will be tasked with delivering new sales growth in Europe and managing the company’s major automotive clients including Jaguar Land Rover, Ford, BMW, Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi and Honda. Barber had previously worked in a number of finance roles in the Middle East, which managing director Peter Atterby says provides "the transferable skills required for his new role in the polymer industry.”
Barber’s appointment follows the GBP 1.5m (EUR 1.76m) investment in a new compounding line at its Louth facility to meet growing demand from the global automotive ‘A’ class interior trim market for its high performance polymers. The additional line increases the company’s polymer compound production capacity from 45,000 t/y to 55,000 t/y.
