Uhde Inventa-Fischer tasked with engineering Wilton PET plant / MTR technology
The plans for Lotte Chemical UK’s (Wilton / UK; www.kpchem.co.kr) new 200,000 t/y PET plant in Wilton are becoming more concrete – see also Plasteurope.com of 19.10.2011. The Lotte Group (Seoul / South Korea; www.lotte.co.kr) subsidiary in mid-June tasked Uhde Inventa-Fischer (Berlin / Germany; www.uhde-inventa-fischer.com) with the plant’s engineering, the supply of all necessary components and the supervision of construction and commissioning. The German engineering group will also be responsible for training the relevant personnel.

The facility will use Uhde Inventa-Fischer’s proprietary “Melt-To-Resin” (MTR) technology, which is based on the two-reactor high-viscosity technology and uses the group’s patented “Espree” and “Discage” reactors. The method is claimed to be not only more cost-effective, but also ensures the production of the required high melt viscosity on a sustained basis.
The new plant will be fed by PTA produced by Lotte Chemical UK at the site, which will be fed directly to the facility via a pipeline.
