LONZA-FOLIEN
Restructuring of business activities
Lonza-Folien GmbH (Weidstr. 2, D-79576 Weil am Rhein), which belongs to the A-L Alusuisse Lonza Group, has restructured its business activities after selling the "Ultraphan" diacetate film division at the end of 1996. In future there will be four business divisions. Alongside OPP laminating film ("Ultralen"),which is to be retained, the company intends to devote its attention to films for technical applications. This applies to the "Pokalon" (polycarbonate films), "Triphan" (cellulose acetate films) and HPP (High Performance Products) divisions. While "Pokalon" and "Triphan" are to be expanded further, Lonza's main focus will be to rigorously continue developing the HPP division with high performance films for various applications. Lonza is particularly specialised in films for high temperature, electrical insulating and optoelectronic applications.
After being certified under DIN ISO 9001 back in 1993, Lonza-Folien has now also been certified by Lloyd's Register for its environmental management system according to DIN ISO 14001. In this connection, the environmental declaration was validated at the end of 1996. Apparently this is important because Lonza manufactures its cast films not out of a melt as in extrusion, but rather out of a solution, the volatile content of which can be recovered.
